Carleen wanted to parent and I like kids. After reviewing
all the options, we decided that adoption was the best course of action for us.
We made the decision to adopt sometime in early 2004. After participating
in a process that would leave us prepared for every contingency
J, things happened faster than we imagined.
We met with
Shannon, Isaac's birth mother, for the first time
the last week of October 2005 and again the first week in November. Isaac
was supposed to wait till Thanksgiving to arrive, but someone forgot to inform
him!
Shannon connected with us through Kelly,
one of Carleen's best friends. Kelly works with Shannon's mother.
Shannon picked us to be Isaac's parents because Dave's son was named Shannon and
because we both had black labs.
Carleen and I went through Children's Home Society
for our adoption. They do a fantastic job of preparation and
education.
